This component of the project focusses on the establishment of community-managed nature-based enterprises that are sustainable. The process involves various activities geared towards establishing commercially viable, ecologically feasible, socially acceptable nature-based enterprises.
Some of the anticipated outputs include:
- Strengthened value chains and market access of the commercially viable goods and services produced by the communities
- Technical and administrative support to the communities in establishing viable enterprises based on their prioritized EbA practices
- Capacity development and training to the communities and extension officers in areas such as business management and accounting skills for successful running and operating of businesses
- Promoting increased local, regional and national investment in natural resource base management, through the identification of commercially viable nature-based goods and services
Achievements in line with Nature-based enterprise development:
- Market Analysis and Development (MAD) guide and enterprises governance to guide on ways to run and manage enterprises.
- Development of Natural Resources enterprises guideline and training of trainers on good governance of practices for their effective running
